Beryl Bikes Cycle Hubs and Arriva ride-share minibus in Watford

Watford Borough Council has been working on providing alternative modes of transport for residents to leave their cars behind, as part of the Sustainability Strategy Plan 2020 to 2023 for Watford.

With 300 bikes at 72 beryl bays across Watford, using an app to book one and away you go.

There are Cycle Hubs where riders can have their bike serviced, or go on a Cycle Training Course and even buy accessories.

Locations

Leavesden Cycle Hub with Woodlands Cafe next door – Leavesden Country Park, College Rd, Abbots Langley.

Friendly staff are happy to help with advice and information, including local cycle routes and maps.

Watford Cycle Hub – The Pavilion, Chaffinch Ln, Watford

A new building incorporating a café and a larger workshop.

Beryl – The bikes are available to hire 24/7 and can be booked via the smartphone app. Electric bikes are also available. Charged per-minute, daily, or through a variety of economical prepaid riding passes.

eCargo Bike Grant Fund

£400,000 has been made available by the Department for Transport in 2021/22 for the purchase of ecargo bikes, to support businesses switching to a sustainable transport solution. The scheme is managed by the Energy Saving Trust and to find out more, including the critera and eligibility, visit their website.

Travel and save the environment

The town is supporting the take up of electric vehicles through an e-car hire scheme and by introducing seven new EV charging points at various locations.

ArrivaClick is a ride-share minibus service which combines your journey with other users travelling in a similar direction conveniently when you want it, in a more environmentally friendly way. (Website)
