Daughter’s Brave Call to Police During Fatal Crossbow Attack

During the crossbow attack at their home, a daughter texted for help, stating she had been “tied up” and that the perpetrator was still in the house, an inquest has heard.

Carol Hunt, 61, died from stab wounds, while her daughters, Hannah, 28, and Louise, 25, were shot and killed in the attack on Ashlyn Close, Bushey, Hertfordshire, just before 19:00 BST on 9 July. The inquests into their deaths have been opened and adjourned at Hertfordshire Coroner’s Court in Hatfield.

Senior coroner Geoffrey Sullivan was informed that Hannah Hunt managed to call the police and provide her address before the call was cut off. The inquest heard that Ms. Hunt told police she had been shot, as had her mother and sister.

When officers arrived, they found her alive in the main doorway of the home with a crossbow bolt still in her chest, the coroner was told. Police launched a manhunt for suspect Kyle Clifford in Hertfordshire and north London on 10 July.

The 26-year-old was found injured just under 24 hours later in Enfield, north London, and was arrested on 11 July on suspicion of three counts of murder. Mr. Clifford remains in a serious condition and, although he has been arrested, he has yet to be questioned or charged by investigators.
