Easter Rail Travel closures & works planned –  29th March to the 1st April 2024

There will be closures to rail services in or area over Easter, please see below:

No trains will operate to/from London Euston between March 29-April 1 inclusive

No trains will operate between Northampton and Milton Keynes on March 30 or March 31 (Easter Sunday)

No trains will operate between Watford Junction and St Albans Abbey (Abbey Line) between March 29-April 1 inclusive

No trains will operate between Lichfield Trent Valley and Birmingham New Street (Cross City Line) between April 2-April 5 inclusive.

Network Rail are delivering engineering works across the rail network this Easter and during the Early May Bank Holiday weekend.

To/From London Euston

  • During the Easter weekend (Friday 29th March – Monday 1st April) and early May Bank Holiday weekend (Sunday 5th May), trains will not operate between Milton Keynes Central – London Euston and services on other routes will also be impacted.
  • Football fans travelling for Millwall vs West Bromwich Albion, QPR vs Birmingham City and MK Dons vs Walsall on Friday 29th March are advised to travel by alternative modes of transport, in order to avoid delays to their journey.

Birmingham New Street – Easter Sunday 31st March

  • Due to essential engineering works, train services due to arrive at / depart from Birmingham New Street before 10am will be subject to amendment / cancellation.
  • Rail replacement buses will be in operation.
  • Please check journey planners before you travel.

Rail Replacement Bus Information

  • You require a valid rail ticket to travel on a rail replacement bus.
  • All of our rail replacement vehicles are fully accessible.
  • Animals are not permitted on rail replacement buses (except for assistance animals).
  • Large items of luggage and non-folding bicycles are not permitted onboard rail replacement bus services.
