Experience royalty with King Charles III coronation themed night market event

Get ready to celebrate the King’s Coronation with a special night market event, “Market Lates,” happening on Friday 5 May from 6pm to 10pm, held within the covered space at Watford Market.

The event promises to be a feast for the senses, with local vendors offering a diverse range of food, drinks, and crafts fit for a king. From traditional dishes to modern twists on old favorites, there will be something to satisfy every palate.

Adding to the festivities, live music will be provided by The Jivettes, an all-singing, all-dancing retro trio, who will be playing two sets throughout the evening. Get ready to be transported back in time to the 1950s, the era of Rock’n’Roll, with their infectious tunes and energetic performances.

While costumes are not mandatory, visitors are encouraged to embrace the spirit of the occasion and dress up as knights, nobles, or other dignitaries in their finest regalia. Alternatively, they can opt for 1950s-inspired fashion, such as tailored dresses with full skirts, large overcoats with fur trim, polka dot prints, poodle skirts, saddle shoes, padded suit coats, and double-breasted suits.

Although King Charles will be busy preparing for his coronation at Westminster Abbey on Saturday 6 May and won’t be able to attend the event like he did in 1978 when he graced the official opening ceremony of Charter House, the previous location of the market, the festivities at Watford Market will surely be a memorable celebration in honor of our new king.

Don’t miss out on this exciting blend of local food, music, and culture at “Market Lates – Celebrate the King’s Coronation Special.” Mark your calendars for Friday 5 May and join in the festivities at Watford Market next month. Long live the king!

Market Manager, Calvin Poon, said: “We are thrilled to be hosting this special event in honour of our new King. Our goal is to create a truly unique and unforgettable experience that showcases the best of our town’s culture and food. We invite everyone to come out and join us in this celebration of our community.”

Entry is free to ‘Market Lates’ and for more information, please visit www.watfordmarket.co.uk/events. You can set yourself a reminder and register your interest in attending the event, by visiting facebook.com/watfordtownmarket/events
