Free NHS Health Check-Up for Hertsmere Residents Aged 40-74

Hertsmere’s Healthy Hubs is offering a free NHS health check to all residents aged 40-74.

The health check is an excellent opportunity for residents to assess their health and determine the potential risk of developing heart disease, stroke, diabetes, kidney disease, and some forms of dementia. With the right preventive measures, these conditions can often be prevented, even if there is a history of them in the family.

The health assessment will include a review of personal heart health, cholesterol levels, blood pressure, and risk of diabetes.

In addition to the health assessment, personal advisors will be available to provide information on diet, physical activity, smoking, alcohol, and risk reduction. The check-up and advice are free of charge.

Residents are encouraged to book their places in advance by contacting Hertsmere’s Healthy Hubs for more information. Don’t miss this opportunity to take control of your health and prevent potentially serious health conditions.

To be eligible you must:

  • be 40-74 years of age
  • not have had an NHS Health Check in the last five years
  • not have had a stroke or heart disease
  • not been diagnosed with high blood pressure or atrial fibrillation (fast irregular heartbeat)
  • not be taking cholesterol lowering medication
  • not already been diagnosed with a risk of 20% or more of having a heart attack or stroke in the next 10 years

The check-up will be conducted on Monday 24 April, 22 May and 26 June at The Wyllyotts Theatre in Potters Bar, EN6 2HN.

To register your interest please complete the online registration here. Or for more information you can contact Hertfordshire Health Improvement Service here.

What is an NHS Health Check?

The NHS Health Check is a health check-up for adults in England aged 40 to 74. It’s designed to spot early signs of stroke, kidney disease, heart disease, type 2 diabetes or dementia. As we get older, we have a higher risk of developing one of these conditions. An NHS Health Check helps find ways to lower this risk.
