Climate change Activists carried out planned action targeting England’s busiest motorway.

Several sections of the London’s M25 were closed including Kent, Hertfordshire, Surrey on Monday morning.

At 10:53pm Herts Police tweeted “We are now responding to reports of protest activity at junction 20 (Kings Langley) of the #M25.

Indigo Rumblelow, 28, a spokesperson for Just Stop Oil from London said: “What did you expect? This Government is complicit in an illegal & unconstitutional plan to issue more licences and consents for new oil & gas — a plan that will take the world over 1.5°C resulting in the collapse of ordered society, the loss of our rights and freedoms and the deaths of millions of people.”

In a tearful video posted from a motorway gantries, protester Louise said she was there because she felt she did not “have a future and you may hate me for doing this, and you’re entitled to hate me, but I wish you would direct all that anger and hatred at our government”.

“What we’re asking for is what all the scientists are asking for, what the United Nations are asking for, the international energy, the IPCC”

Officers are at the scene and several arrests have already been made.

At 9am Herts Police tweeted “We are currently responding to reports of people attempting to climb overhead gantries on the M25, at both junction 22 (London Colney) and junction 23 (South Mimms).
