Kyle Clifford, 26, has been arrested on suspicion of murdering three women in a crossbow attack at their home in Bushey, Hertfordshire. He was detained on Wednesday but hospitalised in serious condition.
He remains injured at a major trauma centre and his home in Rendlesham Road, Enfield has also been searched.
Detective Superintendent Rob Hall, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, said: “Our thoughts remain with the victims’ family at this tragic time.
“The investigation is moving at pace and as a result, we have now arrested a man. Enquiries are continuing at this time.”
The victims were identified as Carol Hunt, 61 (wife of broadcaster John Hunt), Louise Hunt, 25, and Hannah Hunt, 28. They were found just before 7pm with serious injuries at their home on Tuesday evening and pronounced dead at the scene.
In the wake of the horrifying murder of a mother and two daughters in Bushey, the Labour Party government has turned its attention to crossbow regulations. The suspect, Kyle Clifford, allegedly used a crossbow in the attack, raising concerns about the existing laws surrounding these weapons.
Home Secretary Yvette Cooper is urgently reviewing the findings of a recent assessment commissioned by the previous government. The goal is to determine whether “further controls on crossbows should be introduced.” While adults currently do not need a license to own a crossbow, Cooper is considering tightening regulations.
