London Luton Airport suspends all flights after large fire
All flights at London Luton Airport have been suspended after a large vehicle fire broke out in one of its multi-storey car parks.
Flights have been halted until 15:00 BST after the fire caused a “significant structural collapse”.
Emergency services are responding to the blaze at Terminal Car Park 2, and access to the airport is restricted.
Footage shared online shows huge flames and billowing smoke from the top floor of the multi-storey building.
There are no reports of casualties, but the fire service has warned people not to travel to the site.
Passengers inside the Airport are unable to leave of their flights, they look out at the fire in disbelief.
It is Britain’s fifth-busiest airport after Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and Mancheter, and it handled 13.3 million passengers last year, according to the Civil Aviation Authority.
The fire service is describing the incident as a vehicle fire and says it has affected 80% of the car park’s third floor.
10 fire engines are attending the scene, following a call at 20:47 BST.
The airport has asked people to check their flight status before traveling to the airport.
