Police at Serious incident by Grand Union Canal Cassiobury Park

Today at 3:20 pm. Several police cars and ambulance emergency vehicles 

4:40pm Forensics Science Team arrived.

Medical equipment can be seen next to the lock, and a cordon blocks off the path and a large area of woods adjacent to the canal is cordoned off.

Herts Police have confirmed that an elderly man had died and is not being treated as suspicious circumstances.

Next of kin have been informed and a report will be prepared for the coroner.

Canal boats had to cut short their journeys.

At present, we do not have details why but it is possible a man fell into the Grand Union canal lock 77.

Police remain at the scene while investigations are carried out. Possibly into the late evening.

Earlier Police were concerned for the welfare of a man who may have suffered a head injury has gone missing from Watford whilst wearing no top.  James Flannery, 25, was last seen at around 9.10am today (Wednesday).
