The subsidence, caused by an underground leak from a mains water pipe, appeared outside Watford General Hospital on Vicarage Road on 21 August.
This is now the second sinkhole at the Hospital in the same area of the Vicarage Road site.
With the danger of road collapsing, a cordon of Steel fencing has been erected.
The hole was first seen around 2.30pm outside the main entrance to the hospital building, and since has grown and road plates has moved.
Security is on hand to help direct visitors, and the main entrance can still be accessed by foot.
A waste tanker arrived on scene at 8pm to remove sewage as a precautionary measure and ahead of repair engineers tomorrow.
