The Queen Consort has had to postpone her visit to the West Midlands after contracting a “covid virus”, Buckingham Palace said.
On Tuesday, Camilla was meant to visit Elmhurst Ballet School in Birmingham as part of its centenary celebrations, but was later forced to cancel due to feeling unwell.
Buckingham Palace said they hoped to reschedule her visit soon.
Camilla was also scheduled to travel to Southwater One library in Telford, Shropshire, in order to thank outreach representatives and voluntary groups for their contributions to the community. The Palace said they hoped to find a new date for the visit soon.
Anna Turner, the Lord Lieutenant of Shropshire, said: “Sadly the visit has been delayed because Her Majesty’s doctor has advised against making any visits tomorrow due to illness.
The Queen Consort had a busy week ahead of her and was hoping to be feeling better in time for Wednesday’s engagement.
Later this week, on Wednesday, the King and Queen are due to host a reception at Clarence House to celebrate the second anniversary of the Queen’s online book club, The Reading Room.
There, they will be joined by authors and members of literacy charities. The following day, Charles and Camilla are scheduled to attend a reception in Milton Keynes to commemorate the city’s newly-awarded city status, which was given to the area in honor of the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Last year, the Queen Consort had contracted Covid-19 and was forced to cancel her appearance at several events, with the Princess Royal taking her place at the Cheltenham Festival in March.
She also missed a Commonwealth event. Despite her illness, the Queen Consort has been busy with engagements across the UK in the past few weeks, travelling to Aberdeen and Wrexham for various events.
