A 16 year old boy has pled guilty to Firearms incident

The Teenager pleads guilty to multiple offences in connection with a firearms incident in Watford

Police officers on patrol stopped a taxi on Longspring after witnessing a male acting suspiciously on Longspring Harebreaks on the afternoon of Tuesday 13 April

They found cannabis, a bladed weapon, and firearms inside before promptly arresting the two males.

The 16 year old boy from Watford, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to:

  • Possession of an imitation firearm in a public place
  • Possession of a bladed article in a public place
  • Possession of a Class B drug (cannabis)
  • Failure to comply with a Community Protection Notice

A Community Protection Notice (CPN) is aimed to prevent unreasonable behaviour that is having a negative impact on the local community’s quality of life.

He appeared before Hatfield Remand Court yesterday morning (Thursday 15 April).

The boy has been released on conditional bail with a tag and housed out of herts county, and must not return for any reason other than legal purposes. He will be arrested if he does.

Detective Inspector Jason Finnegan, who leads the Watford Local Crime Unit, said: “We are pleased to have secured a guilty plea in relation to this incident and want it to be known that weapon-carrying will not be tolerated in Watford. We now await the next court date in relation to this investigation.”

His next court date is scheduled for Wednesday 5 May.
