Car Parks at Watford’s parks and green spaces closures

Closure of some car parks attached to Watford’s parks and green spaces

While all of Watford’s parks and green spaces remain open, six connected car parks have been temporarily closed in a measure to reduce non-essential driving during the COVID-19 period.

The move supports the government’s instruction for restricted travel and localised exercise only to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

Car parks that are temporarily closed include:
Cassiobury Park
King George V Playing Fields (car park at Chaffinch Lane)
Knutsford Playing Fields
Whippendell Wood (Grove Mill and Rousebarn Lane)
Cheslyn House and Gardens
Watford Borough Council continues to encourage people to use the town’s award winning green spaces as part of their daily exercise and general wellbeing routine.

Woodside access gates closed for the first time since opening.

Elected Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor said ’We have 12 award winning green flag parks and green spaces in Watford, and I want people in our town to make use of these for their daily exercise. However, we have also had to make some difficult decisions with the police to close some of our car parks to keep people safe. This will help us reduce overcrowding and allow us all to keep a good social distance from each other whilst enjoying our fantastic parks and green spaces.”

Watford’s lesser known award winning green spaces include: Woodside Playing Fields, Cheslyn House and Gardens, Waterfields Recreation Ground, Callowland Recreation Ground, Orchard Park, Oxhey Park, St Mary’s Churchyard, Goodwood Recreation Ground, Paddock Road Allotments and Harwoods Recreation Ground.
