Watford Council has announced plans to install 79 new electric vehicle (EV) charging points across the town over the next few months. The move is part of the council’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainable transport.
The new charging points will be installed in a variety of locations throughout the town, including residential areas, public car parks, and retail parks. This will make it easier for residents and visitors to charge their EVs, and encourage more people to switch to electric vehicles.

Cllr Ian Stotesbury, Portfolio Holder for Transport and Sustainability, said: “We are delighted to have obtained this funding that will enable us to extend our EV charging infrastructure, facilitating the utilisation of electric vehicles. As a council, we are dedicated to decreasing carbon emissions in the borough by implementing various initiatives.
“A significant number of individuals in Watford already use electric vehicles, which are proven to decrease pollution and enhance local air quality. Thus, it is crucial to have an adequate charging infrastructure in place, and I would like to express my gratitude to the hardworking team that obtained this grant funding”
