
A body recovered from a river in Newham on Friday evening is believed by police to be Miguel Angel Alvarez Florentino who was wanted in connection with a double stabbing of mother and daughter.
A murder investigation was launched, led by Met detectives Specialist Crime Command, joined by the North East Command Unit, who conducted extensive enquiries to locate a named suspect who was known to Yolanda and the second victim.
Yolanda Saldana Feliz, aged 53, died from being fatally stabbed and her daughter aged 30 was also stabbed by the knifeman in the same incident and taken to hospital with serious injuries in the early hours of Sunday, 23 October.
On Wednesday 26 October, Police made a public appeal naming that suspect as Miguel Angel Alvarez Florentino.
Two days layer on Friday 28 October, detectives investigating in the vicinity of City Mill Lock, off Blaker Road, E15 discovered a male dead in a river.
The body was retrieved and the death is being treated as unexpected, but not as suspicious.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “While waiting for a formal identification, investigators are confident that it is the body of Miguel Florentino.”
“His next of kin have been informed and Yolanda’s family has been made aware of this significant development, whom continue to be supported by specialist officers.”
