Teenager charged with stabbing in Watford launches appeal by police

A 19 year old man was left with stab wounds in the town centre underpass on 13 October this year.

A 17yr teenager has been charged and remanded in custody:

  • Grievous Bodily Harm with Intent (Section 18)
  • Attempted robbery
  • Possession of an offensive weapon

He pleaded not guilty to all charges. A provisional trial date has been set for Monday 20 December at St Albans Crown Court.

The charges relate to an incident between 2pm and 2.30pm on Wednesday 13 October, in the underpass off St Albans Road – which runs alongside part of Essex Road.

The victim, a 19 year old male, was approached by three males who proceeded to stab him, leaving him with serious injuries that required hospital treatment.

Detective Constable Vishal Khanna, from the Watford Local Crime Unit, is investigating.

He said: “We have carried out a number of enquiries since this assault and we are pleased to have secured a charge and remand. However our investigation is still continuing and we are appealing to the public to share any information they have with us.

“Were you in the vicinity of the underpass at the time of the incident on 13 October? Did you see any suspicious activity?

“I am also interested to know if anyone driving in the area between the times stated, particularly in St Albans Road near the roundabout, St Johns Road, Frankland Road, Wellington Road, Westland Road, Essex Road or Malden Road, has captured anything of significance on their dash cams.

“If you have any information then please contact us as soon as possible.”
