Meriden Flat Drugs Bust Secures Second Closure Order in Two Weeks

In a joint operation, authorities have secured a full closure order on a Watford Abbey View flat suspected of drug trafficking.

The action comes after police raided the Abbey View property in Garsmouth Way on Tuesday, December 12, and seized more than 50 wraps of heroin, along with cannabis, £1,300 in cash, and a mobile phone.

Three Watford men – aged 19, 21, and 22 – were arrested on suspicion of possessing and intending to supply both class A (heroin) and class B (cannabis) drugs. They have been released on conditional bail while investigations continue.

The court granted the closure order on Thursday, December 14, effectively banning access to the flat for the next three months. This temporary measure aims to provide residents respite from the anti-social behaviour and criminal activities associated with the property while authorities work on a long-term solution.

This marks the second closure order secured by the Watford Community Safety Partnership in recent weeks. The previous order, obtained at the end of last month, involved a flat in Leavesden Road following the arrest of two individuals during a drugs raid.

Inspector Dan Jones, leading the Watford Safer Neighbourhood Team, expressed the partnership’s dedication to combating drug trafficking in the community. “This closure order, our second in as many weeks, reaffirms our commitment to tackling the supply of controlled substances in Watford,” he stated.

“This result is thanks to work by the Safer Neighbourhood Team, our Operation Scorpion team, Watford’s Community Safety Unit and wider CSP partners.

“Rest assured we are always working behind the scenes to make Watford a safer place to live, by targeting those whose actions can make others’ lives a misery.”
