Two Teens Seriously Injured after Stabbings in St Albans, Police Appeal for Witnesses

Police are appealing for information and witnesses following a reported stabbing in St Albans on Monday 9 October.

Officers were called at around 3.41pm to report a disturbance between a group of people outside the shops on Hatfield Road.

Officers from St Albans and armed response officers attended with support from the National Police Air Service and the ambulance service.

A 16-year-old male and a 17-year-old male were taken to hospital by paramedics with serious suspected stab wounds. Their injuries are not deemed to be life threatening.

A statement was published on the Oaklands College Facebook page, stating that there had been a “serious incident” near the college, and confirming that their campus had been used “as a central space for the emergency services”.

“We take the safety and security of our students and our staff extremely seriously,” it said.

“It is our number one priority to ensure that the college community is a completely safe place for learning and we will be increasing security presence tomorrow for reassurance.

“We are working closely with the police, who are investigating the incident.”

They confirmed that the college is open as normal today (Tuesday, October 10).

Inspector Paul Caro from St Albans Safer Neighbourhood team said: “I want to reassure the public that this is being treated as an isolated incident, but police patrols are being increased in the area to safeguard others.

“We are working hard to trace who was responsible for the incident yesterday afternoon. If you have information which could help our investigation, please email Detective Sergeant Paul Wadsworth via Paul.Wadsworth@herts.police.uk, and quote ISR 584 (09/10/23).”
