During a recent investor conference panel, Warner Bros. Discovery CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels hinted at the potential for more projects set in J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World.
With the success of the new video game ‘Hogwarts Legacy’ and the upcoming ‘Harry Potter’ tour in Tokyo, Wiedenfels suggested that the company has only just begun to expand on this beloved franchise.
He also spoke about the potential for new ‘Lord of the Rings’ films, which he believes will “bear fruit over time” thanks to the company’s coordinated franchise management approach.
Wiedenfels also praised the DC Universe, calling it “an enormous opportunity” with talented filmmakers like Peter Safran and James Gunn involved.
He said: “DC is an enormous opportunity and two important building blocks are in place now with the leadership team, Peter [Safran] and James [Gunn], and James has been breathing comics for as long as he’s been alive, essentially.
“A great creative leader here. And the second building block that is in place is the one-company approach, because I think you can only manage a franchise if everything is coordinated and the team is working together extremely well.”
