Covid-19 memorial garden in Gadebridge Park to open in summer

Dacorum Borough Council have started work to create a memorial garden in Gadebridge Park.

It is being created in memory of residents who lost their lives during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The focal point of the memorial will be a red-leaf Copper Beech tree, which was planted in October, and surrounded by benches.

There was Wildflower planting of 24,000 bulbs including crocuses and tulips to encourage a biodiverse which will flower in the spring.

This will make a peaceful place for the community to reflect and remember loved ones.

The memorial will officially open Saturday 16 July 2022

The initiative is the culmination of a fundraising effort by resident Margaret Sharp, from the Dacorum Carer Support Hub, who wanted to create a place of reflection for people to remember those lost during the pandemic.

In London a Blossom Garden was created in memory of Londoners who have lost their lives to COVID-19.

Croxley House also created one in March 2022.
