Ricky Gervais savages Gary Lineker in ‘woke-off’ migrant routine in Netflix special
Netflix special, Armageddon Premiering on the streaming service since Christmas Day Gervais Unleashes Armageddon: Immigration, Wokeness, and Laughter Amidst Controversy
Ricky Gervais is back, and this time, he’s bringing the apocalypse – both the literal and the comedic kind. His latest Netflix stand-up special, “Armageddon,” arrives with the explosive promise of “controversial takes on political correctness and oversensitivity” in a “taboo-busting comedy special about the end of humanity.”
Ricky Gervais slammed Gary Lineker in a brutal stand-up routine about illegal immigrants.
Mr Gervais parodied someone who was truly “woke” about immigrants arriving at Dover in small boats.
Ricky said: “I am trying to be more woke. For example, I love illegal immigrants. Sue me.
“Sometimes I just go down to Dover and I see a f***ing dinghy with 60 of them on and I go, ‘Come on, welcome! Women and children first. Oh, there are no women — just you lads, is it?’”
He added: “If there’s no boat, I’m absolutely gutted. I just sort of wander into town and stand by the traffic lights, and wait for a big lorry to pull up.
“I look underneath, and there’s a lad clutching onto it, and I go: ‘Where are you headed?’
“And he says: ‘Gary Lineker’s house.’”
However, “Armageddon” isn’t just about pushing buttons. Throughout the special, Gervais displays his philosophical side, contemplating the meaning of life, the inevitability of death, and the fragility of existence on a planet hurtling towards oblivion. These moments of introspection balance the biting humor, offering a glimpse into the comedian’s complex worldview beyond the shock factor.
Others condemn the offensive nature of his jokes, accusing him of punching down at marginalized groups and perpetuating harmful stereotypes.
Whether “Armageddon” marks a comedic triumph or a moral failure is ultimately up to the individual viewer. But one thing’s for sure: Ricky Gervais isn’t going down without a fight – or a laugh.
