Electrical Fire closes Marks & Spencer and Atria Watford
Marks & Spencer’s store in Watford is closed today after an electrical fire broke out early this morning.
Herts Fire Control tweeted about the incident, stating “We are currently dealing with an electrical fire at the Atria in Watford. 10 pumps are attending so please stay clear of the area if possible.”
Three fire engine appliances were seen on the High Street by Sales Staff.
While the extent of the damage is unknown, M&S security has indicated the store is unlikely to reopen before 4:00 pm today. They remain hopeful for a regular business operation by this afternoon.
They commented, “Hopefully business as usual at the centre will return.” and signed off with “Have a safe Easter Saturday”
The HFRS crews left the incident at the Atria in Watford just before 9:24 AM.
Andy Hall, Commander in charge of the operation, said: “Our crews worked nonstop this morning to contain and extinguish a fire, within an hour. I want to thank the firefighters who did their duty to stop the fire spreading and keep Hertfordshire residents safe.”
