Hero builder rescued six people from Greenwich nightclub fire
This is the moment a family was dramatically plucked from a rooftop to escape a “biblical” fire which tore through London’s biggest nightclub.A man in his 20s is fighting for life in hospital following the blaze at Club 338 near the O2 in Greenwich which broke out just before noon yesterday.
“They were all shouting for help and the builder ran and put up his ladder. He climbed to the top and grabbed the girl, who can’t have been more than five years old.“Then the firefighters turned up and pulled a man from the building. He looked in a really bad way, you could see the top of his head was really badly burnt.
“He was carried straight to the air ambulance which landed over the road.”Police investigating the cause of the fire last night arrested fourteen people on suspicion of arson. They were released without charge as investigations continue.Witnesses today told how a hero builder rescued six people, including a young girl, trapped on top of the 3,000-capacity superclub, which has recently undergone a six-figure revamp.
