It is Britain’s fifth-busiest airport after Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and Mancheter, and it handled 13.3 million passengers last year, according to the Civil Aviation Authority.

The fire service is describing the incident as a vehicle fire and says it has affected 80% of the car park’s third floor.

10 fire engines are attending the scene, following a call at 20:47 BST.

The airport has asked people to check their flight status before traveling to the airport.
