15-Year-Old Girl Targeted in ‘Frightening’ Croxley Green Sex Attack; Police Hunt Suspect with ‘Large Hands’
By Wayne, Watnews
CROXLEY GREEN — A 15-year-old girl was threatened and forced to perform sexual acts in a Croxley Green park on Saturday night, sparking a major police manhunt and a wave of community anger over the investigation’s transparency.
Detectives have launched a major witness appeal following a “frightening ordeal” in which a teenage girl was subjected to a serious sexual offence in a local park.
The “serious sexual offence” occurred at approximately 9:00 PM on Saturday, 18 April, in the park area situated between Barton Way and Malvern Way. According to police reports, the victim was approached by an unknown male who threatened her and forced her to perform sexual acts.
The Hunt for the Suspect
Police have released a specific physical profile of the attacker, hoping that unique details will trigger a witness’s memory. The suspect is described as:
- Height/Build: Around 5ft 5in tall with skinny legs and noticeably “large hands.”
- Appearance: “Messy” dark hair and a deep voice.
- Clothing: A black zip-up top over a white shirt, a puffer jacket, and skinny jeans.
- Footwear: Black Nike trainers with a “brightly coloured wavy design.”
Community Backlash Over ‘Missing’ Details
While the police have been specific about the suspect’s footwear and hand size, the appeal has sparked a heated debate among residents. On social media, hundreds of people have questioned why the police omitted the suspect’s ethnicity, age, or accent—details many believe are essential for a public appeal.
One resident commented that it was “weak management” to exclude skin tone, while another questioned how “large hands” could be a better identifier than a description of the man’s face.
However, some have jumped to the defence of the investigation, suggesting the 15-year-old victim may be suffering from “trauma-related memory gaps” following the ordeal.
“Extremely Frightening Ordeal”
Detective Inspector Fay Tooley, leading the investigation, confirmed specialist officers from the Public Protection Unit are currently supporting the victim.
“I recognise that this would have been an extremely frightening ordeal for the victim,” DI Tooley said. “We know this will also cause a great deal of concern among the local community. CCTV reviews are being carried out, but we need the public’s help.”
