Men charged with ABH & GBH when a gun was used in serious assault Hatfield town

Three men have been arrested as part of an investigation into a serious assault in Hatfield town centre during the early hours of Sunday 30 August.

Police were called at 2am following a report of a disturbance outside the snooker club, near to Asda, in the town centre after a gun was reportedly used to threaten.

A man in his 30s was seriously assaulted and suffered injuries to his head and face, which are not being treated as life-threatening. He was taken to hospital for treatment.

Officers immediately attended and carried out a thorough search of the area, with support from colleagues in the Beds, Cambs and Herts (BCH) Armed Policing Unit and the BCH Dog Unit, before they detained and arrested three people.

Nicholas Tate, aged 32 and from Dixons Hill Road in North Mymms has been charged with Assault (ABH) and Possession of a Firearm/Imitation Firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. He has been remanded in custody pending a court appearance.

A 24 year old man from Hatfield was arrested on suspicion of GBH (Section 18) and a 29 year old man, also from Hatfield, was arrested on suspicion of GBH (Section 18) and affray. They have been released under investigation.

A scene guard was in place in the Town Centre to allow officers to complete their initial enquiries and a firearm and ammunition were forensically recovered.
