After reports of a traveller camp being set up in Altham Way car park, South Oxhey, landowner Three Rivers District Council tasked a Bailiff agency with serving notices requiring them to vacate as can be seen in the video.
But this only happened when we arrived to the scene at 3pm on the 11th, hours after the Watford Observer broke the story. The notice can be seen to have the date changed by hand which then the content of the letter only allows one hour to vacate the area.
A spokesperson for the council said: “Owing to a clerical error involving an external agency tasked with serving the notice that required the site to be vacated yesterday (July 12), a new notice was served this morning with a new deadline of 7:30pm today.
“Council officers continue to closely monitor the situation.”
The WO reported that Herts Police became aware of the set-up near Oxhey Jets Football Club last Friday (July 7).
