A tribute has been paid to a loved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, Justin, who sadly died following a road traffic collision in Shenley on Wednesday 30 August 2023.

At around 7.20am, a Volvo bus and Justin, a pedestrian, were involved in a collision on Porters Park Drive, at the junction with Grace Avenue.

Officers, along with colleagues from East of England Ambulance Service, attended the scene, with assistance from the air ambulance. Justin was taken to hospital but sadly passed away on Tuesday 26 September.

The family of Justin said: “Losing Justin, a loved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend has left a huge hole in all our hearts.”

A 57-year-old man was arrested at the scene of the collision on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He was released on police bail while enquiries continue.

“Anyone who was fortunate enough to meet him will know he was a man who radiated strength, bravery and passion and found so much pleasure in giving back to others.

“Justin found meaning in everything he did, he approached situations with compassion, care, and respect for others.

“His sense of humour was second to none and there were so many small ways throughout a day he could make someone smile. We will continue as a family to honour Justin and will ask ourselves ‘what would Justin do?’ if ever in doubt.

“A man too good for this world, this is the only way as a family we can understand why he was taken from us too soon.”

PC Peter Hoddy from the Serious Collison Investigation Unit said: “Our thoughts remain with Justin’s family and friends at this time.

“We are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the collision and are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed the collision or the events leading up to it to please come forward.

“Additionally, if you have a dash cam fitted, please review your footage as you may have captured vital evidence that could help us progress our enquiries.”

Anyone with information is asked to please email PC Hoddy. or call the non-emergency number 101, quoting crime reference number 41/69367/23.
