Christopher Hewett murder: Three sentenced for his death

Father of two, Christopher Hewett, 31, was found stabbed outside his sister’s home in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, on February 12, 2021.

6th September: A 15-year-old boy (who can’t be named because of age) was sentenced at St Albans Crown Court to five years’ after being found guilty of manslaughter, instead of murder.

Two others have already been found guilty and were sentenced on August 27th at Luton Crown Court.

Byron Pollock – now aged 18, formerly of Meadow Way – found guilty of murder and given the equivalent of a life sentence with a minimum term of 19 years before parole will be considered.

Byron Pollock “EXTREMELY dangerous” has been caged for life

Ryan Lee, aged 20, of Wildwood Lane, guilty of assisting the offenders was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison.

What happened

Mr Hewett was walking to his sister’s home with his cousin when they passed a group of four youths, and they followed him to his sister’s home, the court heard.

Mr Calvin said the 15-year-old was holding a baseball bat which the teen used to beaten Mr Hewett and was grappling with him when the 17-year-old came from behind and stabbed him with a ‘combat knife’ with a number of stabbing motions.

The youths ran off and when Mr Hewett’s sister opened her door, she saw her brother being held up by their cousin. He suffered a large wound and was pronounced dead at the hospital an hour later.

Det Insp Iain MacPherson, from Hertfordshire Police, said: “A beloved father, brother and son has died and two boys are facing significant jail sentences because of it.”

Christopher’s father, Robin Hewett, said: “Although nothing will ever make up for the loss of Christopher we can, as a family, take some small comfort from the fact that the case is now closed and start to properly adjust to life without him. I would like to thank everyone involved with the case, who worked so hard to get justice for my son.”
