Elstree Aerodrome Summer Open Day returns after 40 years takes off with a huge turnout
The event was last on in 1979, had an unexpectedly huge turnout of visitors which meant the car parking was stretched to full capacity.
Elstree Aerodrome in Elstree, Hertfordshire, is uniquely placed for fast access into London and benefits from unrestricted 24-hour operations.
Guest speaker Kathan Dudhela talked about his journey to becoming the UK’s Youngest Flight Instructor & World’s Youngest Flight Examiner.
Pre-booked 15-minute Flight Experiences were available.
Visitors could walk the taxiway which had been opened up to create plenty of space to get you closer to the aircraft during the event. Plus games and entertainment for children and food from local vendors.
Small groups of visitors were being allowed a peek inside the Air Control Tower and the guide explained how it all worked. Inquisitive guests had their questions answered.
Around the side an Aircraft hanger with engineers was open.
Stalls with atendees from the aviation industry as photographed below, plus Essex & Herts Air Ambulance, the police and fire emergency services.
