Teenager with Gun named and charged

Four men where detained along with a firearm and a vehicle.

Police have now charged Vinal Rathnaweera, aged 18, of Bushey Mill Lane, Watford.

• possession of a firearm
• possession of ammunition for a firearm, ammunition and a vehicle.

He is due to appear before Hatfield Remand Court later today (15 August).

Three other men from Watford – two also aged 18 and one aged 19, were also arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm.  They have all been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

In the early hours of Tuesday (13 August), a caller reported seeing a man in possessing a gun.  Police then rushed to Albert Road South in Watford Town Centre.
