New Watford FC 100 years at Vicarage Road Book goes on sale
Hundreds of Watford fans queuing at the Hornets shop today at lunchtime waiting to get their hands on the new book, marking the club’s centenary.
Fans queued to get their copy signed by Hostorian Geoff Wicken, along with WFC legend Luther Blissett and club captain Tom Cleverley.
Blissett scored 186 goals in 503 games for Watford, over three spells between 1975 and 1993, and has been involved in “countless community projects”.
‘100 Years at Vicarage Road’ costs £20.22, £1 of which will be donated to the club’s community sports and education trust.
On the book, author and historian Wicken said: “It’s been two years in the making, and I’m delighted with how it looks. It’s heavier than I was expecting though! I particularly enjoyed researching and choosing the photographs, which should prompt memories for supporters of all ages.
“I was also keen to include fans’ own recollections, and the book includes lots of superb stories that supporters have contributed. I very much look forward to people reading it, and I’m sure everyone will enjoy it.”
