Watford Museum prepares to reopen this weekend

Watford Museum is preparing to welcome visitors back for the first time this weekend on Saturday 1 August since it had to close its doors due to COVID-19.

The Museum will reopen on Saturday 1 August at 10am. The Museum is limiting visiting times to start with Saturdays only and people are asked to book in advance for a timed visit to the museum. Information will also be collected for 21 days in line with NHS Track and Trace guidelines. Visitors must book in advance over the phone on 01923 232297 or email info@watfordmuseum.org.uk.

Special safety measures have been put in place to ensure social distancing and to protect visitors and to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

Elected Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor said: “Protecting our town’s heritage is so important and so I am delighted we have been able to reopening our fantastic Museum. I would encourage everyone visiting our Museum to stay safe and consider others whilst finding out more about our town’s history.”

In addition to a number of hand sanitising stations, special deep-cleaning arrangements have been put in place. Visitors should note that some objects and exhibitions have been temporarily removed and special events have been put on hold. Not every gallery may be accessible – please check before visiting. Visitors will be asked to wear a face covering on their visit, or masks will be provided.
