The law has changed that now requires voters to present approved photo ID when voting at local polling stations this May.
Voters will only need to apply for a VAC if:
An application is free to apply for, you will need: a recent, digital photo of yourself and your National Insurance number, or provide other documents to prove your identity, such as your birth certificate, a bank statement or a utility bill (check which documents can be used here).
The Electoral Commission is the independent body that oversees elections and regulates political finance. Who aim to promote public confidence and the integrity in the democratic process.
VAC applications must be submitted by the 25 April for the elections taking place on 4 May 2023. Applications made after this date are still processed but will not be valid for the 4 May 2023 elections.
